· Ellis Rowe
Players ask which number to improve first. The honest answer is both, but in a particular order.
Ball speed is the engine. If you can add two miles per hour, you add about five yards of carry with no change to anything else. Launch angle is the steering. A launch that is two degrees too low or high costs a similar amount.
Our order
We start with launch because it is cheap to fix. Loft or tee height is usually enough. Then we look at speed, which takes longer.
A fitting tells you which one is holding you back. A speed session helps with the other.
